You are 400 m
from La Braie Beach
La Braie Beach is the main beach for L’Orgatte Campground. It’s a public beach with free access, just a 400-meter walk from the campground—less than a 10-minute walk. In July and August, the access path is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., giving you plenty of time to enjoy the sunsets over the Atlantic—a sight you won’t want to miss.
The beach is not patrolled, but the nearest lifeguard station is a 15-minute walk away at the central beach. Depending on the season and the tides, the shoreline can be sandy or rocky, so be sure to check before leaving your sandals at the campground!
Would you like to bring your pet? Dogs are allowed on La Braie Beach— on a leash—from April 1 to September 30. However, they are not allowed to swim between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Outside of these hours, go ahead and splash around!
Seaside Camping in the Vendée: Walk to the Beach Through the Forest
This is one of the unique charms of camping by the sea at L’Orgatte in the Vendée: to get to the beach, you walk through the Pays de Monts national forest. A shaded path beneath the pine trees—a soothing stroll before reaching the vast blue sea. In both summer and fall, this walk or bike ride is part of the experience.
From La Braie Beach, you can also go fishing or bring your own water sports equipment. In July and August, the central beach offers beach sports activities, and the Club des Oursins welcomes children for supervised beach activities. There’s something to keep everyone—young and old—busy!
And if you’d like to ride along the coast and explore other spots, the bike paths will easily take you to nearby beaches and the seaside resorts of Saint-Jean-de-Monts, La Barre-de-Monts-Fromentine, and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.
